Since Neymar left the club, Barcelona have been linked with making a move to re-sign the Brazilian and came very close last season.
However, this season, the club have developed new interests and the injury to Luis Suarez only meant Barcelona might need a new striker.
Reports have claimed FFP rules coupled with financial implications from the coronavirus crisis could mean the club might only be able to afford one of the pair.
Rivaldo has had his own say and he will pick Neymar over Lautaro Martinez.
“Lautaro isn’t the solution at the present moment, Neymar would always be my priority to strengthen Barcelona,” Rivaldo explained as h/t by Marca.
“I think they need to focus everything on bringing him back and rebuilding the dominant forward line they had in the past.
“Barcelona should make a financial effort for Neymar now, especially with PSG seeming ready to accept realistic offers, such a signing wouldn’t be risky.”
Despite all the goals Martinez has bagged this season, Rivaldo believes he needs more time before he can be considered a top player.
“He is just 22 years old and still needs to evolve,” he added.
“He needs to gain experience being a good player.
“This could see him become a top footballer in the future.”
