35-year old Cristiano Ronaldo was the leading goalscorer for Juventus for the second season running prior to the coronavirus hiatus.
21 goals in 22 matches also saw Ronaldo as a strong contender to win this season’s Serie A Golden Boot, only second to Lazio’s Ciro Immobile who has found the back of the net 27 times in 26 outings.
The Portuguese ace has added a Serie A title and the league’s Most Valuable Player and the Footballer of the Year awards to his already lustrous resume since moving to the Allianz Stadium from Santiago Bernabeu in 2018.
His obsession with winning and the desire to stay at the top of the game is no secret, with many of his former colleagues commenting on his desirable trait.
In an interview with La Stampa, Rodrigo Bentancur recently shed light on Ronaldo’s winning mentality.
Bentancur said: “Ronaldo? I met him at the World Cup in Russia.
“I said Ciao and he said ‘Hello Rodrigo’. I don’t know how he could know my name. A few weeks later we were companions at Juventus.
“He is a champion and a role-model, he has an incredible desire to win.”
