Luis Enrique has hailed Michael Olise as a special talent capable of playing at the highest level in European football, while stressing that mentality and consistency will ultimately define how far the winger can go.
The Spanish coach spoke highly of Olise’s natural ability, pointing out that certain qualities — particularly creativity and composure — are instantly visible and cannot be taught through training alone.
“Olise is a special player, you can see it immediately,” Luis Enrique said.
“The way he moves, the way he creates, the personality he has on the ball… that is not something you teach.”
However, despite his admiration for Olise’s natural talent, Enrique was quick to emphasize that success at elite level football requires much more than technical skill. According to him, the most important step in a player’s evolution is learning to combine individual brilliance with discipline and responsibility within the team structure.
“But talent alone is never enough at the highest level,” he continued.
“You must be consistent, you must work for the team.”
Enrique explained that when gifted players fully commit to the collective demands of the game, their impact becomes significantly greater. In Olise’s case, he believes that adding discipline to his creative strengths could elevate him into one of the most difficult players to stop.
“When a player like him adds discipline and responsibility to his game, he becomes unstoppable.”
The former international manager also expressed strong confidence in Olise’s long-term potential, stating that his technical level already meets the standards required by Europe’s elite clubs.
“He has the quality to play for any top club in Europe, no doubt.”
