Ronaldo beats Messi, Immobile and Lewandowski is named the World’s best goal scorer of 2020

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the World’s best goalscorer ahead of Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Immobile by the CIES Football Observatory.

The CIES Football Observatory has examined 127 footballers in 94 top leagues around the world to have scored at least 10 goals in 2020, and declared Cristiano Ronaldo as the most effective goalscorer on the planet.

The sports research center weighed Ronaldo’s 22 goals this year with the level of competitiveness in the competitions he scored in (Serie A, Champions League, etc) using their coefficient ranking.

The study showed the Juventus ace remains the best in the business with a ranking of 81.1 on the CEIS website. Ciro Immobile came second on 17.3, and Robert Lewandowski completed the top-three on 15.3.

While Lionel Messi came home SEVENTH with a ranking of 12.0.

  1. From 22 goals 45% were penalties. Another 40% tapins and balance 15% decent goals. Where as messi scored 40% free kicks. So how?
