Mikel Arteta Explains Arsenal Team Selection Ahead of Champions League Final, “We’ll Give It Our All”

Mikel Arteta admitted that instinct ultimately played a major role in selecting his latest Arsenal FC lineup, as attention now turns toward the club’s upcoming UEFA Champions League final.

Speaking after Arsenal’s recent match, Arteta revealed he faced a difficult decision when choosing his starting XI and confessed that even extensive tactical analysis failed to give him complete certainty.

“In the end it was my gut feeling,” Arteta said when asked how he settled on his team selection.

The Arsenal manager also confirmed that he has not yet fully decided which players will start in the Champions League final, explaining that several factors still need to be assessed before making the final call.

“I don’t know yet,” he said regarding his lineup for the final. “We need to analyse the opposition and the players’ physical and mental condition.”

Arteta went on to describe the amount of preparation and consideration that goes into selecting a team for matches of such importance, revealing that he explored countless tactical combinations before making his decision.

“It was difficult even deciding on the XI today,” he admitted. “I went through dozens of options on my iPad, but none of them convinced me.”

“In the end, I did what I thought was right.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his final selection, Arteta made it clear that Arsenal are fully prepared for the challenge ahead and determined to give everything on the biggest stage in European club football.

“We’re ready to go,” he declared. “We’ll give it our all.”

Arteta has overseen Arsenal’s rise back into Europe’s elite in recent seasons, with the club now preparing for one of the most important matches of his managerial career as they aim to secure Champions League glory.
