Guardiola has admitted that City’s struggles this term have not gone down well with the club’s board.
Since the Spaniard arrived at the Etihad in 2016, he has transformed City to one of the top sides domestically.
In that time-frame, Guardiola can boast of eight trophies to his name, including two Premier League titles.
Guardiola failed to defend his title crown this season and actually admitted the club’s chairman was not too pleased about it.
“I’m critical of my club,” the City boss said as quoted by Goal.
“Internally, when I don’t like something I say to my chairman, [but] my chairman is not happy with me.”
“We finished 21 points behind Liverpool. He’s not happy with me, but we discuss internally to try and do better next season, to convince them. But always on the pitch.”
Guardiola once again failed to comment on his future at the club but insisted they are a force with or without him at the helm of affairs.
“This club is incredibly solid with Pep and without Pep,” he added.
“This club had success before my arrival here, with [Roberto] Mancini and [Manuel] Pellegrini, they won a lot of titles and played really good football.”
“So without me, when I leave – and I don’t know when that will be – the structure of the club wants to grow and to be solid.”
