Kai Havertz comments on the key difference between Premier League and Bundesliga

Havertz feels the Premier League is more fast paced and physical compared to Bundesliga.

Chelsea’s Kai Havertz seems to have settled well in his new surroundings following a big-money summer switch to Stamford Bridge.

The German international had to hit the ground running in his new side as he was named in the starting XI in Frank Lampard’s side’s Premier League curtain-raiser despite not having participated in their preseason.

His lack of enough time to integrate into a new system clearly showed as he put on a subpar performance.

But it did not take too long for the midfielder to show why Chelsea paid upwards of €80 million as he netted a hat-trick in an EFL Cup match.

While his performances have improved game by game, he is yet to reach the same levels as during his Bayer Leverkusen days.

The 21-year old spent four years in Bundesliga prior to moving to the Premier League and suggests that it will take a while for him to get fully accustomed to his new life.

Havertz told the official club website: “It’s very different to Germany and that’s a reason some players need a bit of time to adapt.

“There’s a lot of running in the Premier League, very aggressive.

“In the Bundesliga when you play against lower-placed teams sometimes it’s easier, but here when you play against teams like West Brom or Brighton they can play very good football.”
