FOX Sports launches $50,000 dream job for fans to watch every 2026 FIFA World Cup match

A football fan could genuinely land one of the most unusual jobs in sports media ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. FOX Sports, alongside Indeed, has officially launched a nationwide search for a “Chief World Cup Watcher,” offering one selected candidate $50,000 to watch every single match of the tournament.

According to reports from Reuters, the role will require the chosen fan to watch all 104 matches of the expanded 48 team World Cup, scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The selected applicant will reportedly be stationed inside a custom built viewing setup in New York’s Times Square, where every game will be streamed live on FOX One in 4K.

The position goes beyond simply watching football. Reports state that the “Chief World Cup Watcher” will also be expected to watch every minute of FOX Sports’ tournament coverage, create social media reactions and content throughout the competition, and interact with fans during the public viewing experience in Times Square.

FOX Sports described the project as an effort to turn the tournament into a large scale fan driven watch party while showcasing the viewing experience around the clock.

Applications for the role are currently open and will remain available until May 17. FOX Sports is expected to reveal the winner on June 6 during its Major League Baseball broadcast featuring the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is already set to become the largest edition in football history after FIFA expanded the competition from 32 to 48 teams.

The tournament will feature 104 matches instead of the traditional 64, creating a significantly longer schedule and a larger global audience.
