Barcelona fans have found themselves at the center of online ridicule after social media erupted with reactions to claims that the Catalan giants would have won the Champions League final had they reached it.
Following Paris Saint Germain’s Champions League triumph, debate quickly spread online over how
Barcelona might have performed had they advanced to the final, with some supporters insisting Hansi Flick’s side would have comfortably lifted the trophy.

However, rival fans wasted little time pushing back, flooding social media with criticism and mockery over what many described as “what if” narratives.
One user bluntly wrote: “It’s always ‘would have’ but you always fail to even reach a final.”
Another fan mocked Barcelona’s European record in recent years, pointing out that the club has not reached a Champions League final since 2015.
“Over a decade now, didn’t even reach a final,” one supporter posted. “Even got a chance to play in Europa League in the last decade and still got eliminated.”
Others argued Barcelona had no right to speak about winning the competition after failing to navigate previous knockout rounds.
“You have to make it to the final first,” another fan commented.
Some supporters pointed to Barcelona’s elimination earlier in the competition, mocking suggestions that they would have beaten PSG after previous struggles.
“Couldn’t even beat PSG B team, yet you idiots always claim to have won the final but can’t make it despite getting free routes back to back,” one user wrote.
Others referenced Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan, suggesting Barcelona had already shown vulnerability against top opposition.
“Another trophy for you guys,” one parody account joked sarcastically. “Couldn’t hack Atleti or Inter but would’ve walked this easily.”
“You got packed by Atlético, you moron,” another user added.
Meanwhile, some Barcelona supporters defended the team, arguing they still believe the club would have had enough quality to win the competition if circumstances had played out differently.
“Easily,” one fan claimed. “But they all know that the only way to stop us is by not allowing us get to the finals.”
Still, rival fans continued piling on, with one particularly harsh comment stating: “Barça without the word ‘if’ are Crystal Palace.”
The heated exchange once again highlighted just how divisive Barcelona remain in football discussions, especially when conversations turn toward European success.
Whether fans agree or disagree with the hypothetical debate, one fact remains unchanged: Barcelona were not in the Champions League final, while PSG lifted the trophy and added another major chapter to Europe’s biggest competition.
