Filming has officially kicked off in Toronto for the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling romance novel, Beach Read.
First published in 2020, Beach Read quickly became a major bestseller and helped establish Emily Henry as one of the leading voices in modern romance fiction. The novel earned widespread acclaim for its emotional depth, witty dialogue, and compelling enemies to lovers dynamic, while also becoming a fan favorite among romance readers and the BookTok community.
Directed by Yulin Kuang, the upcoming 20th Century Studios project has officially entered production and is expected to film over an eight week schedule, with shooting set to wrap by the end of July.

The story follows January Andrews, a romance writer struggling to believe in happily ever afters, and Augustus “Gus” Everett, a literary fiction author battling writer’s block. Former college rivals, the pair unexpectedly become neighbors for the summer and agree to a challenge, each attempting to write in the other’s genre, only to discover a connection neither expected.
Phoebe Dynevor will portray January Andrews, while Patrick Schwarzenegger stars as Augustus “Gus” Everett. Fans of the beloved novel have eagerly awaited updates as the adaptation moves closer to the big screen.
Beach Read is currently slated for a 2027 release, bringing Emily Henry’s bestselling and widely adored romance story to theaters worldwide.
