Cristiano Ronaldo won the battle of the GOATS by scoring twice from the spot to help Juventus bag a 3-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League.
Like all champions, however, Ronaldo wasn’t content to sit back and savor his two goals. He pulled out all the stops to help his team and showed off his defensive prowess to shut down a threatening attack from Lionel Messi.
His challenge on Messi (seen in the video below) came towards the end of the game and helped Juventus bag only their third clean sheet in 11 games.
“Ronaldo was very motivated to put in a good performance here against his eternal rival, so when you’re that motivated, it becomes simple,” Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo explained to Sky Sport Italia.
“There are many games in a season and it’s easier to get fired up for fixtures like this, but we mustn’t lose sight of the real target, which is Serie A, so we have to be this concentrated and committed there too.”
