Icardi left Inter to join French champions PSG on a season-long loan last summer.
The 27-year-old has delivered well in front of goal since moving to the Parc des Princes.
Icardi has bagged 20 goals in 31 total appearances and his arrival has also led to Edinson Cavani seeking regular game-time elsewhere.
For all of his stay in France, the Argentine’s future always looked uncertain and the premature ending of the Ligue 1 season only added to that.

PSG had until May 31 to make a decision on his future. Icardi had a €70m buy-out option in his contract and the Ligue 1 side managed to agree a lesser €57m fee to sign the 27-year-old permanently.
Juventus have also been linked with a move for Icardi this summer and some reports have even claimed PSG could sign the forward now only to sell him later elsewhere for more value.
Inter don’t mind that happening apparently, except if his next destination post France will be back in the Serie A with rivals Juventus.
Goal claim that Inter have inserted a clause into the forward’s PSG contract which will see them reimbursed handsomely if he is swiftly sold on to their arch-rivals when the transfer market reopens.
If Juventus want to sign Icardi then they will have to pay an additional €15m.
