Capcom’s latest survival horror entry, Resident Evil Requiem, is seeing strong demand on Nintendo’s new hardware, with the physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition reportedly selling out at major retailers in both the United States and Japan just days after launch.
In the U.S., listings at major chains such as Best Buy, Target, and Amazon have shown limited availability or sold-out status for the physical release, reflecting strong launch demand for the ninth mainline installment in the long-running franchise.
Retail pages confirm the game launched February 27, 2026, with a standard $69.99 MSRP and a Deluxe Steelbook edition that appears especially difficult to obtain.
Similar shortages have been reported in Japan, where major electronics retailers including Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera, and Yamada Denki quickly ran through stock.
The strong performance mirrors the franchise’s enduring popularity in its home market and the early momentum of Nintendo’s new console.
Resident Evil Requiem marks the series’ return to Raccoon City and introduces a new protagonist while allowing players to switch between first- and third-person perspectives.
Built on Capcom’s RE Engine, the game aims to deliver cinematic horror realism alongside the action-driven gameplay the series is known for.
The Switch 2 version has drawn particular attention because the platform release was not originally planned. Capcom opted to bring the title to Nintendo’s new system after internal testing showed Resident Evil Village running impressively on the hardware.
Demand for Requiem-related merchandise has also been strong in Japan. A limited “Terrifying Nightmare Set” bundle — which included the game and a novelty pull-up bar — sold out in under five hours, highlighting collector enthusiasm around the release.
Despite the rush for physical copies, Nintendo has advised Switch 2 players to install the day-one patch to address performance issues and improve stability.
With launch momentum, cross-platform availability, and continued fan interest in physical editions and collector items, Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up to be one of the Nintendo Switch 2’s earliest blockbuster successes.
