Reports: Manchester United ready to make a shock move for Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been approached by Manchester United regarding a possible move back to the club.

Reports recently surfaced claiming that Juventus no longer require the services of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. The Serie A giants are planning on getting him off their books at the season, with the player’s £540,000-a-week wages a huge cause of financial concern.

And amid the uncertainly surrounding his Juve future, Man United are weighing up a potential move for Ronaldo, according to ESPN broadcaster Christian Martin.

Rumors have linked the five-time Ballon d’Or winner with a return to Old Trafford ever since his departure from the Premier League 11 years ago.

However, this time the Red Devils’ prodigal son could finally make his way back as he is ‘considering the move’.

Should the 35-year old make up his mind for a second spell at Man United, Juventus would be willing to sanction his departure.

Ronaldo spent six seasons at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, scoring 118 goals in 292 games. He led the team to Champions League and three Premier League titles before joining Real Madrid in a then world-record fee in the summer of 2009.
