Netflix has released the first official preview of Tantara, a highly anticipated original Korean drama slated to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2026. Led by actors Gong Yoo and Song Hye-kyo, the series traces the ambitions, challenges and relationships that shaped Korea’s entertainment scene from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Tantara centers on Min-ja, portrayed by Song Hye-kyo, a young woman from modest origins driven by dreams of artistic success during an era of rapid cultural transformation. Gong Yoo plays Dong-gu, her childhood friend whose own journey through fame and personal hardship runs parallel to hers. Their intertwined stories reflect an industry defined by steep competition, loyalty and shifting social expectations.

The ensemble cast features Kim Seol-hyun as Min-hui, a key influence in Min-ja’s life; Cha Seung-won as Gil-yeo, an iconic composer who shapes the industry’s direction; and Lee Hanee as Yang-ja, a singer and maternal figure whose ambitions embody the pressures of the time. Together, the characters converge in a narrative spanning decades of South Korea’s artistic evolution.

Created by acclaimed writer Noh Hee-kyung and directed by Lee Yoon-jung, Tantara blends personal drama with historical texture, highlighting the emotional stakes behind creative aspiration. Netflix’s first-look images and teaser material showcase elaborate costumes, retro styling and period set design, underscoring the project’s high production value and detailed world-building.

Filming wrapped earlier in 2026, and the series has been positioned as one of Netflix’s flagship Korean originals for the year. With prestige casting, a celebrated creative team and a story anchored in cultural change, Tantara is already emerging as one of the defining K-drama releases of 2026.
