Netflix has officially confirmed that The WONDERfools, a superhero comedy-adventure series starring Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo, will premiere on the platform in 2026. The announcement was included in the streamer’s recent Tudum preview, positioning the series as one of its notable Korean originals for the upcoming year.
Set in 1999, The WONDERfools follows a group of ordinary residents in Haeseong City who unexpectedly acquire superpowers they can neither harness nor understand. Rather than evolving into slick, high-stakes action heroes, the newly empowered characters stumble through chaotic situations as they confront local villains and attempt to defend their community. The premise blends classic superhero tropes with offbeat humour and character-driven storytelling, aiming to offer a lighter, genre-crossing take on hero narratives.

Park Eun-bin, coming off heightened global recognition from Extraordinary Attorney Woo, leads the ensemble alongside Cha Eun-woo, known both for his acting roles and his work as a member of ASTRO. Supporting cast members include Kim Hae-sook, Choi Dae-hoon, Im Seong-jae and Son Hyun-joo, giving the project star presence across multiple age brackets and audience demographics.

Principal photography reportedly wrapped ahead of the upcoming release, and promotional materials indicate that the series figures prominently in Netflix’s 2026 K-drama slate. While specifics regarding release date and episode rollout have not yet been disclosed, the series is expected to stream globally throughout 2026 as part of Netflix’s expanding investment in Korean content.
With its unconventional take on superpowers, throwback 1990s setting and crossover casting appeal, The WONDERfools adds another layer of genre diversity to Netflix’s Korean lineup as the platform continues to court international audiences.
