Lionel Messi is the highest-earning footballer in the world once again.
The Argentine tops the list beating his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronlado having earned €13 million more.
Messi took home €131 million this year. Ronaldo, on the other hand, made €118 million.
These figures are according to a study conducted by France Football, who have been publishing such reports since 1999.

Other than the players’ gross salary, the French media outlet bases results on their bonuses, advertising revenue, and other sources of income.
Messi has been making the cut in the top 3 since 2013. PSG superstar Neymar is third on the list with a net income of €95 million.
Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann, and Eden Hazard are the next three with each making around €38 million.
