The coronavirus pandemic has threatened globally and lots of healthcare staff have had to put themselves on the line as they battle the deadly disease.
Many have heaped praises on healthcare workers globally, with door clapping fast even becoming a ritual for some.
Messi has also sent a message of support, acknowledging the anonymous heroes who continue to put a lot of effort in curbing the spread of the disease.
“Yesterday the World Health Worker Week came to an end and, together with Unicef, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the work they do,” Messi wrote on his Instagram page.
“Anonymous heroes who endure long days and nights away from their families, so that ours can be safe from #COVID19.”
He added: “For continuing, despite everything, their noble commitment to caring for pregnant women, and keeping children and adolescents protected.”
