SBS has confirmed its next high-stakes medical drama, Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia, a noir-infused hospital series led by Kim Ji-won.
Adapted from the hit Japanese franchise Doctor X, the upcoming production reimagines the story within a corruption-soaked Korean medical institution, blending surgical intensity with political intrigue. The series is scheduled to premiere in October 2026.
At the center of the drama is Kim Ji-won, who takes on the role of Gye Soo-jung, a prodigy surgeon dispatched through a physician staffing agency.
Brilliant, uncompromising, and fiercely independent, Gye Soo-jung has earned the ominous nickname “mad dog of the operating room.”
Her reputation stems not only from her flawless surgical technique, but from her refusal to bend to hospital politics or bow to wealthy patrons who manipulate the system behind closed doors.
Unlike traditional medical protagonists driven by idealism, Gye Soo-jung operates as a lone antihero.
Dispatched to the prestigious yet morally compromised Guseo University Hospital, she enters a world ruled by influence, bribery, and power struggles among elite doctors and executives.
Armed with nothing but her surgical expertise and unwavering moral compass, she challenges the deeply rooted corruption that has long festered within the institution.

With Kim Ji-won stepping into one of her most intense roles yet, anticipation is already building for the series’ October 2026 premiere on SBS.
