Karim Benzema breaks into the top five Real Madrid goalscorers in history.

Karim Benzema has entered the top 5 goal scorers in Real Madrid history with his brace yesterday against Valencia.

Karim Benzema struck twice during Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Valencia last night in the 29th La Liga matchday.

His second goal which saw him topple Ferenc Puskas with 243 goals was also an amazing strike worthy of such accomplishment.

Benzema’s brace meant he has now scored 243 goals during his eleven-year spell at Santiago Bernabeu so far, making him the fifth-highest goal scorer in the club’s history.

The Frenchman is now only behind Santillana (290), Alfredo Di Stefano (308), Raul (323), and Cristiano Ronaldo (451).

Now with 21 goals across all competitions this season, his double also saw the 32-year old marksman break the 20-goal barrier for the second season in a row.

He has been able to cross the 20 goal mark for 10 of the last 13 seasons playing for Real Madrid and Lyon.

Speaking after the match, the former Lyon man expressed his delight over reaching a milestone in his Real Madrid career while also committing to keep improving.

“I didn’t imagine anything like this, I’m very happy. I’ve been working for a long time now and I always put it in to keep improving,” the official club website quotes Benzema.

“I hope I can keep going. I’m very happy to be playing for this club.”
