“Dear X” has released new stills that delve into Baek Ah Jin’s dark past, heightening anticipation for the upcoming premiere.
The drama, based on a popular webtoon, stars Kim You Jung as Baek Ah Jin, an A-list actress who ruthlessly climbs from rock bottom to the top of the entertainment industry by manipulating others. Beneath her glamorous image lies a cruel, calculating nature shaped by a painful childhood.
The newly revealed stills depict a tense reunion between Baek Ah Jin and her estranged father, Baek Seon Gyu (Bae Soo Bin). After abandoning her years ago following her mother’s death and his remarriage, he suddenly reappears at her school, causing chaos with his disheveled appearance and erratic behavior. Yoon Joon Seo (Kim Young Dae) steps in to protect Ah Jin, while Shim Sung Hee (Kim Yi Kyung) uses the moment to strike back at her.
Another scene shows Baek Seon Gyu visiting Ah Jin’s home, revealing that he has fallen into gambling and is seeking money. His frustration contrasts sharply with Ah Jin’s weary resignation, hinting at the years of neglect, abuse, and hardship she endured growing up.
According to writer Ban Ji Woon, who also adapted the screenplay, the first four episodes will highlight Baek Ah Jin’s clashes with powerful villains and the dynamic between the two men in her life, Yoon Joon Seo and Kim Jae Oh (Kim Do Hoon). The author promised a fast-paced, addictive story centered around “Pretty Ah Jin, Evil Ah Jin.”
“Dear X” will premiere its first four episodes on November 6.
