Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson suffered a knee injury during the 3-1 victory over Brighton on Wednesday.
Henderson, who scored his side’s second goal in that match, was forced to walk off the pitch 10 minutes before time following a heavy challenge with Yves Bissouma.
The midfielder underwent a scan at Melwood on Thursday which confirmed the extent of his injury.
He will not be able to participate in any of his side’s remaining four matches – against Burnley, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United. However, he will return in time for the commencement of the 2020/21 campaign.
“Hendo is the best possible of all bad news. It’s a knee injury but no surgery needed,” said Jurgen Klopp said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Burnley clash [via Liverpool Echo].
“He will not play anymore this season but I’m pretty positive he will start the new season with us.
“We were all concerned when we saw him going down and he left the pitch and when we got the news it was a big relief for all of us. He will be back, he is a quick healer.”
