Rb Leipzig thrashed Mainz, thanks in part to a hattrick from Timo Werner to stay within touching distance of the Bundesliga top two.
It was an utterly dominant performance from the visitors, who ran riot early on in the game and rained down plenty of shots on their opponents.
Werner opened the scoring in the 11th minute. When he nipped in front of his marker to steer the ball though the crowd at a sharp angle.

Poulsen got in on the action in the 23rd minute when the cross came in from the right and he was left totally unmarked in the center to head home and double the lead.

Three minutes after the restart and Werner had his brace and Leipzig’s fourth. Courtesy of some tireless running from Kampl, who seemed determined to be involved after running the Mainz defense in circles before finding Werner.
