On the 5th, MBC announced that it would be broadcasting the entirety of Part 1 in a special program ahead of the broadcast of Part 2 of the Korean drama “My Dearest.”
‘My Dearest’ (written by Hwang Jin Young, directed by Kim Sung Yong, Lee Han Joon, and Cheon Soo Jin) Part 1 garnered a peak viewership rating of 12.2% (Nielsen Korea nationwide) and took the throne of all channel primetime dramas.
It was also ranked first in various popularity polls, beating its competitors by an overwhelming margin, and continued the ‘Lover’ syndrome that has taken Korea by storm and is still ongoing.
In particular, the teaser video for Part 2, which was released 10 days before the first broadcast of “My Dearest Part 2,” received over 500,000 views within a day of its release and quickly became the number one most popular video on the portal, proving the high interest of viewers.
To meet viewers’ high expectations, MBC has confirmed that it will broadcast the entirety of “My Dearest” Part 1 back-to-back during this holiday season and will present “Lover Day.”
It will air episodes 1-5 of “Lovers” from 1:20 p.m. on Sunday the 8th, and episodes 6-10 from 11:05 a.m. on the following day, Monday the 9th.
The back-to-back broadcasts will give viewers who have loved ‘My Dearest’ a chance to reconfirm the emotional impact of Part 1, as well as introduce the drama to viewers who have not yet watched “My Dearest.”
In addition, ‘My Dearest’ special broadcasts will continue during this holiday season.
On the 8th, ‘My Dearest Part 1 Rewind Film’ will be rebroadcast at 8:05 am, and on the 9th, Korean New Year’s Day, ‘Guys Crossing the Line – My Dearest Collection (‘My Dearest Collection’)’ will be broadcast at 10:45 pm.
“My Dearest Collection” will feature actress Ahn Eun-jin, the heroine of “My Dearest,” as she takes viewers on a historical tour of the Byeongja Horan, the setting of the drama, and is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the drama.
‘My Dearest’ Part 2 will start airing on Friday the 13th at 9:50 pm on MBC and will be available on streaming website Viki.
