Players will be punished for breaking the rules says La Liga President

La Liga president Javier Tebas insists that player should follow the social distancing rules in between games or face punishment.

La Liga is embroiled in another fiasco with one of its players breaking social distancing rules again.

This time it was Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo, who went to a birthday party apparently with 19 other people.

The Spanish top-flight about to resume action after 3 months off because of the coronavirus pandemic. Its chief will not allow a few to ruin for everyone.

A rather pissed off Javier Tebas insists he will demand the strictest conditions imposed on players if the farse continues.

According to Goal he said: “Players have to behave themselves, or else face lockdown measures between games in order to preserve safety measures.”

“We hope we don’t have to reach that extreme, but if players cannot stop going to barbecues or parties, we will not have a choice.”

“We have shown trust in the players, so please pay back that trust and do not break it.”

“Breaking the rules does not only damage La Liga, but people’s health in general.”

Tebas is hoping if the current trends in the pandemic’s numbers continue in Spain then limited fans may eventually be allowed too.

He added:

“The pandemic is on a sharp decline.”

“The return to stadiums would have to be coordinated by the ministry for health and the Sports Council, and it is obviously not going to be the whole stadium.”

“If we can get 10%, 15% this season we would be very happy. It would be part of that normality, it is important that fans start to return.”
