Koke Frustrated After Arsenal Clash, “They Haven’t Been Superior Than Us”

Koke expressed strong frustration following Atlético de Madrid’s clash against Arsenal FC, insisting that the Premier League side were not better than Atlético despite the outcome.

The Atlético captain admitted the result left him angry because he believes Diego Simeone’s side performed at a higher level across the tie.

“To be honest, it makes me even angrier because I think Arsenal haven’t been superior than us,” Koke said after the match.

The midfielder also voiced his frustration over a controversial penalty incident, claiming VAR chose not to intervene at a crucial moment during the game.

“VAR didn’t want to get involved in the penalty incident,” he stated. “And we were superior than Arsenal.”

Koke’s comments reflected growing anger within the Atlético camp regarding refereeing decisions this season, with the Spanish international openly wishing for officiating luck to finally go in his club’s favor.

“I just wish we had a season that referees are in favor of Atlético de Madrid!” he added.

Despite the disappointment surrounding the result, Koke called for unity among supporters and urged Atlético fans to continue backing the team during an important period for the club.

When asked about his future, the long serving midfielder avoided discussing any personal decisions and instead focused entirely on the collective spirit around Atlético.

“This is not the time to talk about my future,” Koke explained. “It’s time to stay united and for Atlético fans to wear their jersey everywhere.”

The club captain ended on a positive note, insisting he remains optimistic about what lies ahead for Atlético despite the recent setback.

“I’m really excited about the future,” he said.
