New Korean Drama: Disney+ Sets Premiere for Korean Thriller “Gold Land,” Starring Park Bo Young in a High-Stakes Tale of Greed and Survival

Disney+ is expanding its Korean drama slate with the arrival of Gold Land, a suspense-driven thriller set to premiere on 29 April, with new episodes rolling out every Wednesday.

Led by Park Bo Young in a darker, more intense role, the series promises a gripping story centered on greed, betrayal, and the dangerous consequences of sudden fortune.

Gold Land follows the story of Heeju, a woman whose life takes a terrifying turn after she stumbles upon a massive cache of gold. What begins as an unexpected discovery quickly spirals into chaos as greed spreads among those around her. Trust erodes, alliances shift, and survival becomes her only priority as she navigates betrayal and life-threatening danger. The premise sets the stage for a tense narrative that blends psychological suspense with action-driven storytelling.

The series features a notable ensemble cast led by Park Bo Young, known for her versatility across romantic and dramatic roles. She is joined by Kim Sung Cheol, Kim Hee Won, Lee Hyun Wook, and Lee Kwang Soo, forming a dynamic lineup expected to bring both emotional depth and dramatic intensity to the story. Lee Kwang Soo’s involvement, in particular, adds intrigue, as audiences anticipate how his character will fit into the series’ darker tone.

Behind the camera, Gold Land is directed by Kim Sung Hoon, recognized for his work on Chief Detective 1958, bringing a steady hand to the suspense genre. The screenplay is written by Hwang Jo Yoon, best known for the acclaimed film Masquerade, suggesting a script rooted in layered storytelling and character-driven tension.

A character teaser released ahead of the premiere hints at a moody, high-stakes atmosphere, showcasing glimpses of paranoia, conflict, and desperation among the characters. The teaser underscores the central theme of how wealth can corrupt and fracture relationships, setting expectations for a story that leans heavily into moral dilemmas and survival instincts.

Gold Land premieres exclusively on Disney+ starting 29 April, with new episodes arriving weekly on Wednesdays.
